Thee Marloes (IN)
When you first hear Thee Marloes, their soulful sound may seem familiar—crooning guitar, rich drums, and lyrics about love and heartbreak. But there’s something undeniably fresh about the trio from Surabaya, Indonesia. With Natassya Sianturi on vocals and keys, Sinatrya “Raka” Dharaka on guitar, and Tommy Satwick on drums, Thee Marloes blend classic soul influences with their own Indonesian essence. Raka and Tommy first began crafting their sound through gigs and DJ sets before discovering Natassya, whose church-trained vocals and eclectic musical inspirations completed the group’s unique sound. Together, they developed their identity in a home studio, free from outside pressure, creating a fresh take on soul that eventually caught the attention of Big Crown Records.
Their debut album Perak showcases a spectrum of moods and grooves, from the energetic funk of “Midnight Hotline” to the emotional soul of “Beri Cinta Waktu”—sung in Indonesian yet universally resonant. Tracks like “I Know,” “Not Today,” and “True Love” reveal their ability to seamlessly move between genres and tempos, all while staying rooted in heartfelt expression. With no local blueprint to follow, Thee Marloes have carved their own path, bringing global soul lovers a sound that feels both familiar and entirely new. Their passion is palpable, and their music, no matter the language, speaks directly to the heart.
