Line Up

Drifting Clouds were conceived in the homelands of Bunhungura, a 20 minute drive from
Gapuwiyak. Lead singer, songwriter and keyboardist Terry Guyula has been honing his skills
from a young age, while first connecting with music from watching his uncles fellowship band
and then playing drums and keyboards in school. After graduating Guyula went on to study at
Abmusic in Perth, where he first started singing, writing and developing his own style.

Guyula’s ethereal sound draws from an eclectic mix of genres from synthpop, 80’s, rock and
country, while drawing from Songlines, Dreamtime Stories, culture and life in community, Drifting
Clouds achieve a nuanced vision. In Gapuwiyak, Guyula formed an eight piece family band to
back up and perform his originals. In a packed out troopy, the band have travelled and
performed at a string of the NT’s most prestigious cultural festivals including Garma, Barunga,
Bush Bands Bash, Stone Country and more.

The band’s name comes from distinctive clouds that roll in from the east, appearing as a coat of
many patterns. The patterns have names, one is Dhumbarpar: ‘drifting clouds’
